Job Description

General Utility Techs are critical to success at FritoLay! Our General Utility Techs are responsible for constructing boxes and packing them full of products you already know and love. Although you will start with FritoLay, we are investing in helping you grow with us. This job can open the door to career opportunities with us or our parent company, PepsiCo. In this role, here are some of the frequent tasks you will be doing:

Utility:

· Support repacking cases rejected from automated machines.

· Clear case jams on automated equipment and conveyors.

· Palletize cases on the floor in the event of equipment downtime.

· Responsible for conducting both dry wipes and wet wash changeovers on manufacturing equipment.

· Set up lines during a changeover process.

· Maintain housekeeping and specific sanitation tasks as required.

· Perform regular quality checks at required frequency.

· Other duties as assigned.

Box Drop:

· Troubleshoot case erector equipment and clear machine faults in a timely manner.

· Consistently refill cases into multiple case erector machines (5 to 12 lines assigned to you at one time).

· Operate power jack (PIT) to move pallets of cases to and from machines.

· Communicate effectively with peers and management over the radio or intercom system.

· Other duties as assigned.

Robotic Palletizer Monitor:

· Operate specialized robotic system program and troubleshoot stacker, program product codes, validate case count/zone set up.

· Responsible for initiating changeovers.

· Knowledge of Inventory Control System (ICS) and handheld scanner operations.

· Team player, ability to effectively communicate with maintenance, crane monitors, management, Packaging Machine Operators (PMO) and Sanitation for cleaning.

· General knowledge of LOTO with ability to learn specialized safety procedures.

· Ability to manually palletize as needed.

· Demonstrate ability for self-direction, looking for strong time management and organizational skills.

· Other duties as assigned.

Sanitation:

· Detailed cleaning of equipment/lines necessary for manufacturing products; Utilize provided tools with scrub pads, brushes, picks and paper towels.

· Working with mild chemicals.

· Utilize ladders to work at heights.

· Bending, crouching, and working in tight spaces for extended periods of time, necessary to complete detailed cleaning.

· Read and utilizing checklists to ensure compliance with validated sanitation SOPs.

· Inspect equipment with a flashlight to verify successful cleaning.· Fill out end of shift paperwork validating work completion.


We are open 24 hours a day, which means you may not have a typical schedule. As a General Utility Tech, weekends or holidays may be required.

It's a physical job! If you have never worked in a warehouse or manufacturing environment before, you should understand that you will be on your feet the entirety of your shift. General Utility Techs are expected to stay on the line until relieved for break. We're seeking individuals who are flexible, committed, and safety-focused. Here are the minimum qualifications of this job:

  • You are 18 years of age or olde
  • You will be required to work on weekends, holidays as well as off shift
  • You can stand and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • You can climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • You can repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, and handle products with or without a reasonable accommodation
